1996 Volkswagen Golf fuse circuit breakers

The fuse Panel is located under the left side of the dashboard on the drivers knee, Fox, Cabriolet, Jetta and rabbit pickup. The Panel is located on the Golf and GTI drivers right knee, under the dash Panel.
Note: on all models, fuse specifications are listed inside the cover Panel.
Note: always disconnect the battery ground cable prior to maintenance "high-current fuses. It is recommended that "high current" fuse replaced by a qualified technician.

RADIATOR CAP
Note: always disconnect the fan motor when working near the radiator fan. The fan is temperature controlled and could start at any time, even when the ignition key is in the OFF position. DO NOT loosen or remove the radiator Cap when the cooling system is hot.

REPLACING BLOWN FUSES
Before you replace a blown fuse, remove the ignition key, turn off all lights and accessories to avoid damage to the electrical system. Be sure to use the fuse with the correct amperage rating. The use of an incorrect assessment amperage fuse can cause an overload of dangerous electrical system.

LOW-BATTERY WARNING
Note: When the battery is disconnected, vehicles equipped with computers may lose memory data. When you reset the battery consumption, driveability problems may exist on some vehicles. These vehicles may require a relearn procedure. See COMPUTER reprogramming of procedures in general article information section.
