Ford has unveiled the Ford Atlas Concept showing the design, capacity, fuel efficiency and smart technologies that will define the future trucks.

"Previews of innovations that will transform Ford Atlas Concept what people expect from his truck," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. "With 36 years as the top-selling truck in America, we are absolutely committed to the establishment of the program in the truck market."

Design with a purpose
The Ford Atlas Concept is inspired by decades of listening to customers in the places where they work and play. The result is a design driven with purpose, with prominent wheel arches, a wide stance and chiseled grills - all to reinforce functional imaging Built Ford Tough.

"We wanted the concept reflects how Ford trucks assist clients in his two worlds - both professionally and personally," said J Mays, Ford group vice president and creative director. "Every surface and depending on the vehicle has been designed for the purpose and capacity, all reinforcing its unmistakable Built Ford Tough."

The designers improved the functionality of the truck, while creating new advanced features. For example, multiple anchors are embedded within the walls of the cargo box and the cargo floor together with electrical plugs in 110-volt the housing for biasing power tools. An integrated transport roof and hidden extendable ramp system gives the truck unique functionality for a variety of jobs.

The interior is themed detailed structural style and features of the latest thinking on comfort, utility and refinement. Seats innovative, thin and light, comfortable leather, allowing legroom for rear passengers - along with integrated storage for small items. The pockets "floating" instrument and opening and closing button for easy use with gloves and controls remain functional inside and resistant stylish.

Leading fuel efficiency
The Ford Atlas Concept has an EcoBoost powertrain next generation, which introduces the Auto Start-Stop, the enhanced role of advanced technology engine close to the truck. Auto Start-Stop switches off the engine when stopped traffic to save fuel - and intelligently suspends the function when the truck is towing known.

The EcoBoost engine uses direct fuel injection and turbo charging to deliver the benefits of fuel economy up to 20 percent and reduction of CO2 emissions of up to 15 percent, compared with larger displacement engines. More than 500,000 EcoBoost engines have been sold worldwide, including 250,000 in the Ford F-150.

The Ford Atlas Concept goes further to save fuel through a combination of assets that reduce aerodynamic drag. They include:
Active shutters grills: the hidden shutters behind the grille are kept open when extra engine cooling is required, for example, when driving at low speed to-and-still (stop-and-go) or while working in hot weather. The shutters automatically close to improve aerodynamics when driving on the highway at steady speeds

Blinds wheel active: automatic blinds are hidden wheels to improve the style when stopped and at low speeds, but are automatically closed at highway speeds to improve aerodynamics. Self-loadable batteries using the energy of motion of the wheels to drive the shutters
Front air intake down: A front spoiler wind down low at highway speeds to improve airflow under the body. The air intake rises at low speeds to improve ground clearance - useful for all terrain.

Actuated automatically Stirrups: Stirrups deployable self help passengers get into the truck when stopped and saved when the truck is moving to improve aerodynamics and ground clearance.

The combination of these functions saves fuel savings over two miles per gallon on the highway without compromising the ability of towing or hauling.

Work and play smarter, not harder
The Ford Atlas Concept is a rolling sample of features that enhance the capacity, durability and productivity to meet the diverse needs of truck owners.

Features include:
Backdoor dual purpose as a step and charging base: The acclaimed Ford Tailgate Step goes a step further by adding the ability to also act as a charging base - raising and keeping cargo items on the extra-long truck free up valuable space on the pallet.

Attendance reversing a trailer (Trailer Assist backup): This innovation unprecedented in the segment allows drivers to reverse a trailer at the touch of a button. Fords research shows that reversing a trailer is often the most daunting task that a client can Truck cope.

Attendance dynamic coupling: The coupling of a trailer can be long and difficult. Dynamic Hitch Assist helps precisely align the hitch of the truck with trailer hitch, eliminating the guesswork of maneuver to display visual cues on the central display of the truck.

House of view of 360 degrees: A Ford truck first, the system gives a birds eye views of the truck to help position the vehicle in tight spaces or when obstacles near the van - like a busy site workday or in a supermarket parking lot.

Headlights and LED taillights: LED Advanced provides better illumination of the road than conventional halogen or HID lights and lasts longer. LED lights also provide almost instantaneous response, giving valuable extra warning time traffic monitoring.

The load compartment LED lighting and side mirror: The advanced, powerful and efficient LED lighting bright lights of the cargo box and the workplace after the sun sets with minimum battery discharge compared with normal headlights or lights plug.

Hidden ramps: The lightweight, durable ramps stowed under the cargo box can be quickly removed and used to help with loading items on wheels within the platform - from gardening equipment to road bikes
