The BMW Group DesignworksUSA presented at the Auto Show in Los Angeles his vision of what police patrols will be in the year 2025.
The exhibition to be held in Los Angeles will be the ninth edition of the Design Challenge, an event where design equpos the worlds biggest brands have prototypes that depict the future of individual mobility.
The challenge this year was to create a police car for the year 2025 that has creative solutions taking into account new technologies, agility and speed needed for future highway systems, and a limited level of contamination. The subsidiary of BMW introduced a vehicle without notorious links with the design lines of the German mark.
The designers decided to choose Los Angeles to locate the futuristic prototype. Assuming that there will be more traffic, faster vehicles and different types of propulsion; technicians thought teamwork and accessibility are the two keys to successful patrol.
Inspired by the relationship between an officer and his police dog, they created a modular truck. Main body can deploy three small vehicles without passengers: the one located at the top is flying and the other two are small with a wheel and are located in the back. The two occupants of the main block can continue the pursuit while the other cars will send information of the object pursued in addition to the possibility of firing off an impulse to escape the fireball.
Inside, we find a structure based on aluminum cables combined with woven carbon fiber. The seats offer a great interaction between the driver and passenger compartment. All interactions with the systems are given by touch screens and windows to be removed by security; the windshield is a large screen.
